ITiDi BAGS INNOVATIVE LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT AWARD

Kuala Lumpur, 14 April 2005: Protasco Bhd’s training arm, Ikram Training and Infrastructure Development Institute (ITiDi: www.itidi.com.my) ) added another feather to its cap by bagging the Innovative Learning & Development 2004 Award for Engineering & Infrastructure here last night.

Organised by J T Frank Academy Sdn Bhd, the Award was instituted to recognize three key categories of K-driven organizations for their contributions in innovative learning and development in Malaysia’s K-based economy.

Deputy Information Minister, YB Dato’ Donald Lim Siang Chai presented the award to ITiDi director, Ir Tan Swee Kee. A delighted Ir Tan said, “ It definitely shows that we have reached a certain level of excellence. I am very pleased we managed to fulfill all the stringent requirements set by the organizer.” He added that the award would enhance the ITiDi brand further.

The ISO 9000-certified training center has trained more than 40,000 participants from Malaysia, other ASEAN countries, OIC countries, Africa, India and Afghanistan since its incorporation in 1997. Besides providing public, customized and corporate training programs in Engineering, Technology, Management and IT, ITiDi is accredited by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Bhd (PSMB) and Small and Medium Industries Development Corporation (SMIDEC) under the various Skill and Competency Training Programs.

ITiDi also provides training in civil engineering works for international training programs under Malaysian Technical Cooperation Program (MTCP) sponsored by the Malaysian government through Economic Planning Unit (EPU), and Third Country
Training Program (TCTP) sponsored jointly by the Japanese and Malaysian Governments through EPU and Japanese International Co-operation Agency (JICA).

In his speech, Dato’ Donald Lim urged Malaysia’s organizations to put in place a well-defined policies and structured road maps to put knowledge management (KM) into practice. He added that continuous learning coupled with dynamic sharing and collaboration would enhance the country’s ability to innovate. In this regard, he called on the public and private sectors, libraries and publishers to share resources and knowledge by forging a strong partnership which promotes the practice of KM .

At the same function, 18 Protasco staff members received their certificates of recognition from Dr Frankie Ow, JT Franks’ Chief Knowledge Architect. They were:
