By Shukri Rahman Kuala Lumpur, 21 January 2005: Protasco Bhd group of companies continue to lend support to the Tsunami victims. Hoping to enhance the relief efforts undertaken by caring Malaysian individuals and organization, Protasco Bhd donated RM100,000 to the special fund set up by the NSTP group. Protasco Managing Director, Dato’ Chong Ket Pen said ,“ We join the world in its grief.” Protasco’s education arm, Kuala Lumpur Infrastructure University College (KLIUC) has also pledged a RM10,000 contribution to the Tsunami Fund set up by the Higher Education Ministry. Collection from students and staff has already reached several thousand Ringgit. Last week, 29 students and two KLIUC staff were in Kuala Muda, Kedah. They were among more than 200 volunteers, participating in a gotong royong, organised by the Kedahan Association in Kuala Lumpur, to clean up the affected area there. The students and staff also donated some clothing and a few hundred Ringgit to two families. Early this month, Protasco subsidiary, Roadcare (M) Sdn Bhd despatched a backhoe to help with the relief operations in Aceh. Separately, the company has also collected almost RM10,000 from its staff and business partners for the Tsunami victims. |
