By Aida Hafitah Mohd Tahir

Kuala Lumpur, 22 December, 2004: The MARA’s Knowledge Management Function Team comprising 25 principals and vice-principals of MARA Colleges as well as representatives from the “Bahagian Pendidikan & Latihan (Menengah) and “Unit Naziran & Kualiti Pendidikan” MARA Head Office visited Protasco Bhd’s HQ here today.

They were met by their Protasco counterparts, the K-Champions from HCM Engineering and Roadcare along with 2 representatives from KLIUC. The event started with a welcoming speech by the host’s KM Team Leader, Ms Eunice Lee. Later she presented the KM Journey in Protasco, elaborating on the practice, initiatives and implementation of KM within the organisation. KM Champions Puan Pauziah Abu Kasim and Encik Shukri Rahman then shared their KM experiences as a facilitator with the ISO perspective and editor of K-Connection newsletter respectively.

After the refreshment, it was MARA’s turn to present their side of the story on KM, with a presentation by Puan Siti Fatimah, as their Knowledge Exchange Programme Leader. It was gathered that MARA has not embarked on their formal KM Journey yet.

However they plan to do so in 2005. They plan to adapt some of the practices that HCM and Roadcare have implemented into their scope of work, which is mainly focused on education.

During the Q & A session, many questions were asked by the visitors since they were keen to know in detail the specific KM initiatives implemented at Protasco Bhd.

The group was later brought to the 2nd floor to visit the Knowledge Capital Centre and Resource Room.

Lunch was served at the Garden Terrace on the 2nd Floor. Before the visitors departed, a group photo was taken in front of the Protasco building., capping a fruitful and memorable event to remember for both parties.
