Perak Welcomes HCM's Rural Road Technology

Bagan Serai, 6 March 2004: Caretaker Home Affairs Deputy Minister-cum- Member of Parliament for Bagai Serai, Dato’ Zainal Abidin Zin launched HCM Engineering Sdn Bhd’s rural road technology project here today.

It was the fourth in a series of community service projects undertaken by the company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Protasco Bhd, to bring its environmental friendly, cost-efficient and time-saving recycling technology to the rural folks. The first three were carried out in Perlis, Melaka and Selangor.

Protasco Executive Chairman-cum-HCM Managing Director, Dato’ Ir Haji Hasnur Rabiain Ismail said the selected 4.35km irrigation road from Tebuk Pancur to Padang Lalang would be upgraded in 10 days and the company would bear the whole cost.

He added, “ We have been using the technology in road and highway construction and maintenance. Motivated by the belief that rural roads must be at par with urban roads, Protasco has carried out its R&D on recycling technology for the last seven years.”

The VIPs, community leaders and local people were later treated to a live demonstration on the recycling technique at the site.
