On 2 October 2025, i2 Energy hosted students from the German-Malaysian Institute at its large-scale solar plant in Masjid Tanah, Melaka, for a learning trip on sustainable energy and power distribution.
Rather than an overview delivered in a classroom, the visit put the students inside a working generation site. They saw the scale of the array in person and followed the path electricity takes from the panels through to distribution.
The site safety supervisor walked them through how the plant runs day to day, how a distribution network manages and routes what the array produces, and what operating a utility-scale asset actually asks of the people responsible for it. For engineering students, that context is difficult to teach any other way.
Malaysia's energy transition will be delivered by engineers who are still in training today. Opening the gates of a working plant is one of the more useful things the group can do about that.
