On Monday 22 May 2023 Ikram Works Sdn Bhd ran a day of free training for the public, from 8.30am to 4.30pm, in conjunction with National Training Week 2023, the government's national upskilling programme.
Three sessions were delivered: Introduction to BIM, Road Construction and Quality Control, and Introduction to Pavement Forensic Investigation. Together they track a road project end to end, from modelling it before it is built, to controlling materials while it is built, to establishing afterwards why a pavement failed.
Ikram Works stated that the day was planned to support CIDB Malaysia's Construction 4.0 Strategic Plan 2021 to 2025, which was then running, and that the purpose was to give the public exposure to technology adoption in the engineering and construction sector along with a closer look at the company's own work. No attendance figure was published.
The sessions were held at Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur, which was part of the Protasco group at the time and has since been divested and renamed. Most of the division's training is delivered to clients under contract. A free public day is a different exercise: it puts technical material in front of people who would not otherwise be in the room.
