Roadcare (M) Sdn Bhd ran a four-day flood relief mission in the Hulu Langat district of Selangor from 30 December 2021, after the floods that hit the state that December. It was carried out with the Ministry of Works and Jabatan Kerja Raya. The aim was narrow and practical: help residents clean out their homes.
Roadcare's contribution was plant. It sent water tanker lorries and bulldozers, the same class of equipment it runs on its road maintenance contracts. When floodwater drops, what it leaves behind in and around houses is mud and debris, and shifting that takes water pressure and machinery rather than goodwill alone.
Roadcare maintains federal roads in Selangor and has a regional operation in the state, so the machines and the people who work them were already close by when the mission started.
The company's account records no donation figure and no cheque presentation, which matches what the contribution actually was. Roadcare's ordinary business is the condition of the road network. For four days the same lorries and machines were put to work on residential streets and house compounds instead.
